Most of us use our hands for almost everything we do in life. As a result, hand and finger pain can be very limiting for all kinds of activities, both at work and during our leisure time.
These injuries can be caused by sudden accident but are often the result of overuse – especially if your chosen sport places a lot of demand on tendons, ligaments and pulleys, which are slower to adapt and heal than muscles. For this reason, climbers, cyclists and kayakers frequently have issues with their hands and wrists.
Hands are very complex and generally require assessment by a physiotherapist skilled in hand therapy.
At Isi Booker Physio, you’ll receive expert assessment and treatment of finger, hand and wrist injuries, helping you to identify the cause of your pain and the most effective treatment.
We may also take a more general look at your upper body posture and strength, and how you use your arms, as this can be a big contributing factor in wrist, hand and finger injuries.

A fortnight after the fall, I called Isi and got a prompt reply, and appointment was swiftly arranged. A thorough examination and diagnosis was carried out, and a series of exercises was agreed. A knee brace was suggested, which I've subsequently bought and things are, hopefully, on the mend. Once again, Isi to the rescue, wonderful service. Diolch yn fawr. Myf. Four decades of work and play take a toll on the body. Isi has been completely key in allowing me to function on the mountains and crags. Knees in particular along with hips and shoulders. She is always able to prioritise needs, provide loads of specific and functional exercises to help strengthen and improve sore joints, some of which are pretty chronic and have been causing problems for years. Have been really amazed how much better the knees have been since going to see Isi, thought it was going to be surgery and lots of ill afforded time off work. Been following her advice and exercise programs for a few months and the gains have been great. Surgery has been dismissed, and feeling so much more confident heading into this next winter season. Isi is great at balancing both practical advice on what to do in regards rehab/strengthening but also excellent at supporting you with encouragement and pragmatism about managing issues around work and also wanting to help you make the most of your free time too. Highly recommended for anyone struggling with issues and who is self motivated and disciplined to actually put the effort in, who knew…it actually works. Thanks very much Isi, you’re golden. Nothing else I can say other than perfect :) elfyn JonesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I've been treated a few times now by Isi for a recurring dislocated shoulder. The exercises she recommends give me confidence to progress slowly back to sporting activities (including climbing and outdoor swimming), gradually and, more importantly, safely, building up strength and stability in a progressive rehabilitation programme. She listened carefully, quickly identified the issue, and gave me targeted exercises that made a real difference. Professional, reassuring, and highly effective — I’d absolutely recommend Isi to anyone looking for a brilliant physiotherapist. Isi has definitely been one of the best I have been to. She obviously really cares and very knowledgeable. She ran through a range of exercises and tests to get to the bottom of my finger injury. She then gave me a really manageable rehab plan to work on before my next appointment. I would highly recommend. Prowess CoachingTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I injured my left hand on a 7c boulder, outside, back in March and after climbing through it for a couple of months, got to the point where I needed to rehab it properly. That's when I got in touch with Isi. Two months off climbing (that was pre-planned) commenced but now with rehab exercises to be done in the meantime. They were really well chosen; the type of thing I could do in the evening while watching the tele and as such, exercises that I religiously completed. In September, I came back for another catch up, refreshed the rehab after retesting, and got back on the wall again. In mid-October, I managed to complete a 7b+ boulder indoors, crucially with no pain. Almost back to where I was! While I'm under no illusions that I'm magically fixed, it shows the exercises worked brilliantly and I'm continuing the journey back to full strength. I'll probably have at least one more session with Isi before I class myself as not-injured, testing again to see if the injury is fully healed. Overall, I've been very pleased with the process Daniel WebbTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. As an outdoor professional, my health and fitness are absolutely essential. I’ve struggled with injuries throughout my life and career, but Isi has truly turned things around. I never thought it was possible to feel this consistent and injury-free, but thanks to Isi I do. I’ve had a lot of treatment over the years, and Isi is by far the best I’ve ever experienced. Her skill, care, and attention are unmatched. I’m happy, pain-free, and pushing toward my best—something I didn’t think was achievable. I can’t recommend Isi highly enough ! Review from Kate Worthington - I chose to gain some specific advice from Isi relating to my general S&C work, to support my general health and running training and knew Isi would be able to relate to my desired outcomes and combine her expertise and knowledge to help me understand how I can better achieve results and target identified issues. Isi listened carefully to my history, was able to see and understand how my body was performing and what I could work on to improve technique, targeted strength outcomes and address subtle weaknesses and imbalances that may be affecting me. I felt very 'heard' and well-informed as a result of investing in some time with Isi - thank you so much! Ameen -Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a shooting pain, and I was struggling to explain and find the cause of it. Issy was patient and did an assessment, and gave me recommendations to get me through the week.
